Acting Opposition President Thach Setha Involved in Cashless Check

Phnom Penh: Vice President of the Candlelight Party, Mr. Thach Setha was arrested on the evening of January 16 by court order.

An order from the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, issued by Investigating Judge Tith Dalin on 16 January 2023, to charge Thach Setha with "non-compliance with a commercial instrument".

The warrant states: "He was placed under arrest  for embezzlement of commodities committed in Phnom Penh during 2019, an offense punishable under Article 231 of the Law "The device can be traded and paid for.”

Interestingly, the arrest of Thach Setha comes after he was instructed by Hun Manet a few weeks ago advised by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen that if he did not want to be arrested, Please do not do anything  illegal.

Prime Minister said: "Hun Manet reported to me. He knows that Hun Manet is the next prime ministerial candidate to succeed me. Thach Setha went to see him and Manet advised Thach Setha not to commit any crimes.. If you do not commit illegal acts,  nothing will happened to you?"
